The Governance of AI
Introduction
Artificial intelligence (AI) represents one of the most influential technological developments of our time. It is evolving at a rapid pace and is driving profound transformations across countless areas of human activity. Such changes raise fundamental questions about how to govern this technology in order to minimize risks while maximizing its benefits for society.
This thematic semester aims to explore the multiple facets of AI governance and the various meanings of this notion, by examining the issues specific to different levels and spaces of governance, the challenges arising in particular sectors, and the values that should be advanced through governance mechanisms.
Scientific objective
To identify, analyze, and compare AI governance models across different scales and sectors, with a view to promoting practices that reconcile technological progress with societal considerations and the respect of fundamental values.
« The Governance of AI » thematic semester is organized under the partnership between IVADO and the centre AI for science, science for AI (AISSAI)
